DPWH Cordillera Issues Travel Advisory for Kennon Road Amid TS Crising





DPWH Cordillera is advising motorists to use alternate routes and stay updated on road conditions as Kennon Road remains passable to light vehicles but is at risk due to heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm Crising. Benguet is currently under TCWS No. 1.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Cordillera is urging motorists and travelers to take extra caution as heavy rainfall from Tropical Storm Crising continues to affect Benguet, particularly the areas surrounding Kennon Road.

Tropical Storm Crising Update

As of 2:00 PM, 18 July 2025, Benguet is under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 (TCWS No. 1) due to Tropical Storm Crising. PAGASA has reported that moderate to heavy rainfall and strong winds are expected to persist over the province. Residents and travelers are advised to be alert for possible flooding, landslides, and sudden changes in road conditions.

Kennon Road Status:

Kennon Road is currently passable to light vehicles. However, the DPWH Cordillera strongly recommends considering alternate routes for safety, especially while the province remains under TCWS No. 1 and adverse weather conditions continue.

Recommended Alternate Routes to Baguio or La Union:

  • Marcos Highway
  • Asin–Nangalisan–San Pascual–La Union Boundary Road

Other Road Updates:

  • Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road in Datakan, Kapangan, Benguet is impassable following a road slip and scoured pavement caused by continuous rain.
    • Alternate routes for Kapangan: Datakan–Labueg Road and Aso–Datakan Road.





DPWH Cordillera encourages all motorists to stay informed, monitor official advisories, and plan their routes ahead to avoid delays or safety risks. Further updates will be released as conditions change.
