CIMB ASEAN Scholarship invites applicants from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and the Philippines. To apply, they need to have an unconditional offer from a top-tier university worldwide or a renowned university in their home country/ASEAN region by the time the scholarship is awarded. Students with a minimum of 1 full academic year left in their program may also apply.

Applicants don’t need to have been accepted by a university to apply. Those expecting acceptance from a top-tier university for their studies are also welcome. However, they must hold an unconditional offer by the time the scholarship is awarded.

The scholarship doesn’t limit itself to students with a finance and banking background. Applicants from various academic disciplines, including business & marketing, economics, sciences & engineering, social sciences, and digital and data-related courses, are encouraged to apply. Still, applicants should envision a career in the financial and banking industry, as they will have to serve a bond upon completion of their study.

Yes. Upon graduation, the scholar will indeed form a bond with CIMB Group. This bond lasts one year for every year of local study (in the candidate’s home country), and two years for every year of study outside the candidate’s home country. However, the bond period will not exceed a maximum of 5 years.

The CIMB ASEAN Scholarship is a full scholarship award covering all academic fees, including registration, examination, and tuition fees, and provides a living allowance. It also covers other miscellaneous expenses related to airfare and visa/travel documents.

Applications for the scholarship will be open from 26 May 2023 to 11 June 2023.

Only shortlisted applicants will be notified via the email address provided in the online application.

All decisions by the selection committee are final, and appeals will not be entertained.

Applications submitted after the stipulated closing date will not be accepted.

If a scholar fails to complete the program or attain the educational qualification, they will be required to repay all expenditure borne by the CIMB Group.

Applicants can use results from country-specific, local, or international pre-university/foundation programs or degrees in their application.

Even if an applicant has family members working in the CIMB Group, they can still apply for the scholarship as long as they satisfy the basic eligibility criteria.
