UC Released Academic Guidelines For Students



Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the University of the Cordilleras (UC) has issued its Advisory for Students and in the case of the College of Law, Advisory for Students and Faculty. These advisories are in accordance with the  National Government, City Government of Baguio and CHED advisories on COVID-19 measures. There were three advisories released, one for students in general, one specifically for students of the College of Nursing and one for the Students and Faculty of the College of Law. For a better reading experience, we have retyped the contents of the advisories below:

UC Advisory for Students

Academic Guidelines for the 2nd Trimester, SY 2019-2020

The University of the Cordilleras, in accordance with National Government and Baguio City Executive Orders and CHED Advisories on COVID-19 Measures, wishes to inform you on the university’s Academic Guidelines covering the ECQ period from March 13-May 31, 2020. This is to ensure the safety of the students, faculty, and the entire UC Community, and the continuity of our institutional academic functions amid the ECQ period: 

  1. UC Virtual facilities and other platforms for online submission of requirements shall resume starting April 28, 2020.
  2. All course requirements including assignments, modules, and projects given between the period of March 13-18, 2020 shall be submitted not later than May 7, 2020.
  3. Students who will not be able to comply with the said submission date shall be given one trimester to complete the course requirements.
  4. Computation of grades in all courses, including OJT/Internship, will be based on the existing student records including submitted requirements during the ECQ. The existing UC grading system shall be adopted.
  5. Theses, project studies, and Feasibility studies shall be graded based on the written output/manuscripts.
  6. A remark of “Incomplete” will be indicated as the final grade for students with incomplete requirements submitted. 
  7. Online grade reports shall be available starting May 28, 2020
  8. A UC Student Survey on the opening of the 3rd Trimester, SY 2019-2020 shall be conducted. The goal is to know the students’ needs and concerns should the university implement blended or virtual classes as prescribed by the Commission on Higher Education. 
  9. Separate advisories shall be issued for the Graduate School, College of Nursing, and College of Law. 

 

UC Advisory for College of Nursing Students 

Academic Guidelines for the 2nd Semester SY 2019-2020

 

  1. UC virtual facilities and other platforms for virtual course delivery and submission of requirements shall resume starting April 28, 2020.
  2. The College of Nursing shall continue utilizing non-residential learning modalities including virtual learning starting April 28, 2020, to May 11, 2020. Course activities include but not limited to course delivery, sharing of various course materials, modules, case-based scenarios, and simulations using communication technologies such as mobile phones. 
  3. Major requirements shall be given in lieu of standard major examinations
  4. All course requirements including assignments, modules, and projects given between the period of March 13, 2020, to May 11, 2020, shall be submitted not later than May 30, 2020.
  5. Students who will not be able to comply with the said submission date shall be given one semester to completed the course requirements.
  6. Computation of grades in all courses, including internship and RLEs will be based on the existing student records including submitted requirements during the ECQ. The existing UC grading system shall be adopted. 
  7. Nursing Research shall be graded based on the written output/manuscript.
  8. A remark of “Incomplete” will be indicated as the final grade for students with incomplete requirements submitted.
  9. Online Grade Reports shall be available starting June 10, 2020.
  10. A UC Student Survey on the opening of Summer 2020 shall be conducted. The goal is to know the students’ needs and concerns should the university implement blended or virtual classes as prescribed by the Commission on Higher Education. 

 

UC Advisory for College of Law Students and Faculty

Academic Guidelines for the 2nd Semester, SY 2019-2020

 

In view of the class suspension until May 31, 2020, under Executive Order no. 78, issued by the Office of the City Mayor, Baguio City, classes at the UC College of Law will officially end on May 18, 2020.

The UC College of Law shall adopt the following measures:

  1. Faculty members are encouraged to prepare reading materials on unfinished lessons. Or, faculty members may record videos of their lectures on unfinished lessons. The reading materials or videos shall be distributed to the students not later than May 18, 2020;
  2. Instead of the Midterm and Final Examinations, faculty members shall give equivalent take home tests to measure students’ academic performance. The take home test shall be distributed to the students electronically;
  3. Final grades shall be based on quizzes, class recitations, and take home tests;
  4. Submission of final grades shall be done either electronically or in person at the dean’s office as follows: 

For 4th year students – Not later than June 11, 2020

For all other students – Not later than June 30, 2020
