Tropical Storm “Enteng” Maintains Strength While Slowly Turning North-Northwestward

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued the latest update on Tropical Storm “Enteng” (YAGI), which continues to maintain its strength while slowly turning north-northwestward over the sea east of Polillo Islands.

Track and Intensity Outlook

As of 7:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm “Enteng” was estimated to be 115 km northeast of Infanta, Quezon, or 85 km east-southeast of Baler, Aurora (15.5 °N, 122.4 °E). It has maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h near the center, with gustiness up to 90 km/h, and is moving north-northwestward at 15 km/h.

“Enteng” is expected to make landfall over Isabela or Cagayan this afternoon or evening, although a landfall over northern Aurora is not ruled out. After crossing mainland Northern Luzon, the storm will emerge over the Luzon Strait by late morning tomorrow. It is forecast to continue moving westward over the Luzon Strait and the West Philippine Sea, exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Wednesday (September 4).

“Enteng” is forecast to maintain its tropical storm category until Tuesday during its traverse of mainland Northern Luzon. Further intensification is expected from Wednesday onwards, with the storm potentially reaching severe tropical storm status on Wednesday and typhoon status by Friday (September 6).
