By Benguet Under Yellow Rainfall Warning Due to Habagat
Benguet has been placed under a Yellow Rainfall Warning as the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat continues to bring rains over Northern Luzon, according to PAGASA.
The warning was issued at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, under Heavy Rainfall Warning No. 7 of PAGASA’s Northern Luzon Regional Services Division.
Yellow Rainfall Warning Over Benguet
PAGASA placed Benguet under the Yellow Rainfall Warning, with possible flooding and landslides in areas that are prone to these hazards.
Residents, particularly those living near rivers, waterways, low-lying areas, steep slopes, and locations with a history of landslides, are advised to remain alert as rainfall continues.
The prevailing weather system affecting the area is the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.
Rains Affecting Other Parts of Northern Luzon
Meanwhile, light to moderate, and at times heavy rains, are being experienced in several areas of Northern Luzon, including La Union, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, portions of Ifugao, Mountain Province, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Apayao, Ilocos Norte, Kalinga, Cagayan, and Isabela.
These rains may persist within the next two to three hours and may also affect nearby areas.
Similar conditions are also expected over the remaining portions of Ifugao, Mountain Province, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Isabela, Cagayan, and Apayao within the next two to three hours.
Residents Urged to Remain Alert
PAGASA advised the public and concerned Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices to continue monitoring weather conditions and take precautionary measures against the possible impacts of the ongoing rains.
Residents in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas should remain vigilant, while those living along mountain slopes are advised to watch for possible landslides, mudslides, rockslides, and flash floods.
The next Heavy Rainfall Warning is expected at 8:00 p.m. today, August 29, 2026.
