Tropical Depression “Enteng” Maintains Strength as it Moves Northwestward

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has released an updated bulletin on Tropical Depression “Enteng,” which continues to maintain its strength as it moves northwestward.

Earlier today, PAGASA issued its first advisory for Tropical Depression “Enteng” at 11:00 AM, reporting that the system had developed from a low-pressure area east of Eastern Visayas. At that time, “Enteng” was located approximately 120 km north-northeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar, or 150 km east of Catarman, Northern Samar. The system was moving northwestward at 30 km/h with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h and gustiness up to 55 km/h.

Since the first advisory, “Enteng” has maintained its strength and speed, with its current center located 110 km east-northeast of Catarman, Northern Samar. The tropical depression is expected to continue intensifying and moving northwestward over the next few days, potentially reaching tropical storm status by tomorrow.

Track and Intensity Outlook

“Enteng” is forecast to continue moving generally northwestward to north-northwestward today, gradually intensifying over the next few days. On its current track, the system may approach the Bicol Region-Eastern Visayas area within the next 48 hours, where landfall cannot be ruled out. The tropical depression is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm by tomorrow.
