Tropical Depression BISING Slightly Intensifies

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced that Tropical Depression BISING has slightly intensified as it moves west of Extreme Northern Luzon. At 10:00 AM, BISING was located about 280 km west northwest of Calayan, Cagayan, with sustained winds of 55 km/h and gusts up to 70 km/h. The system is moving west southwest at 15 km/h.

Wind Signals

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is in effect over parts of the Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur. Residents can expect strong winds (39–61 km/h) within 36 hours, posing minimal to minor threats to life and property. Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon and BISING’s circulation are enhancing winds and rainfall in much of Northern and Central Luzon.

Rainfall and Wind Impacts

Heavy rains are forecast over Ilocos Norte (100–200 mm) and 50–100 mm over Batanes, Cagayan, and Apayao. Strong to gale-force gusts will affect coastal and upland areas of Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, and nearby provinces over the next three days.

Sea Conditions

Seas along the western seaboards of Northern Luzon will be rough to moderate, with waves up to 3 meters. Small sea vessels are advised not to venture out.

Forecast Track

BISING is expected to gradually turn northeast over the sea west of Extreme Northern Luzon, possibly re-entering the PAR by Sunday and intensifying into a tropical storm.

Public Advisory

PAGASA urges the public and local authorities to monitor official updates, prepare for possible flooding, and heed evacuation advisories if needed. The next bulletin will be released at 5:00 PM today.
