TD Isang Crosses Quirino; Benguet and Other Areas Remain Under Signal No. 1

Tropical Depression Isang slightly decelerated while crossing Quirino Province this afternoon, August 22, 2025. Signal No. 1 remains raised in multiple areas of Northern and Central Luzon, including Benguet.

At 4:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Depression Isang was located in the vicinity of Aglipay, Quirino based on available data including Baler Doppler Weather Radar. It maintained maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 90 km/h, and central pressure of 1002 hPa. Isang is moving west northwestward at 15 km/h, with strong winds extending outward up to 200 km from the center.
Track and Intensity Outlook
Isang will continue traversing Northern Luzon tonight, then emerge over the West Philippine Sea before exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by tomorrow morning or afternoon (23 August).
- It is forecast to intensify into a tropical storm tomorrow morning and may reach severe tropical storm category near the waters south of Hainan, China.
- Earlier intensification into a tropical storm after emerging over the West Philippine Sea is not ruled out.

Hazards Affecting Coastal Waters
- Rough seas up to 3.0 m: seaboards of Batanes and Cagayan. Mariners of small seacraft are advised not to venture out to sea.
- Moderate seas up to 2.5 m: seaboards of Isabela, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur.
- Moderate seas up to 2.0 m: seaboards of Aurora and Zambales; western seaboards of Bataan and Lubang Island.
Public Advisory
The public and disaster risk reduction offices are advised to take all necessary precautions against floods, landslides, and strong winds. Communities in high-risk areas should follow evacuation orders and official instructions.
