STS Carina Intensifies as it Moves Northwestward Over the PH Sea
PAGASA has reported that Severe Tropical Storm Carina (GAEMI) continues to intensify as it moves northwestward over the Philippine Sea.
- Location (10:00 AM): 355 km East of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (17.4°N, 125.1°E)
- Intensity: Maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 135 km/h, central pressure at 985 hPa
- Movement: Northwestward at 15 km/h
- Winds: Strong to storm-force winds extend up to 340 km from the center

Heavy Rainfall Outlook:
- Today to Tomorrow noon (23 July): 100-200 mm in extreme northeastern mainland Cagayan, 50-100 mm in Babuyan Islands and eastern portions of mainland Cagayan and Isabela.
- Tomorrow noon (23 July) to Wednesday noon (24 July): 100-200 mm in Batanes, 50-100 mm in Babuyan Islands and northeastern mainland Cagayan.
- Wednesday noon (24 July) to Thursday noon (25 July): 50-100 mm in Batanes.
Flooding and landslides are possible in areas identified as highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards.

- Wednesday: Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Apayao, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Isabela, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, and Visayas.
Coastal Waters:
- Next 24 Hours: Moderate to rough seas (2.0 to 3.5 m) over northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon, and western seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon, and Western Visayas (1.5 to 3.0 m). Mariners of small seacrafts are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions.
Track and Intensity Outlook:
- Carina is expected to move northward until tomorrow, accelerating before turning northwestward. It will exit PAR by Wednesday evening or Thursday early morning, passing near or over southern Ryukyu archipelago islands and close to northern Taiwan. It is forecast to reach typhoon category within 12 hours and may undergo rapid intensification.
