[UPDATED] Several Areas in Luzon Now on Signal No. 3 Due to Typhoon “Quinta”



[PAGASA Update as of 11:00 AM]

At 10:00 AM today (Monday), October 26, 2020, the center of “Quinta” was estimated at 125 km North of Coron, Palawan or 120 km West Southwest of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

Based on the latest Severe Weather Bulletin issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) at 11:00 AM today, Typhoon “Quinta” has maintained its strength as is now over the Mindoro Strait.

According to PAGASA “Quinta” will continue to move westward until this afternoon, then will then turn west-northwestward towards the western boundary of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and it is forecast to exit the PAR tomorrow morning. “Quinta” is also forecast to re-intensify and may reach its peak intensity within 24 to 48 hours.

For those who are in areas under TCWS No.3, here are the things PAGASA encourages you to do:

  • If the house is not strong enough to withstand the battering of strong winds:
    • Go to the designated evacuation center
    • Or seek shelter in stronger houses
  • Stay in safe houses until after the disturbances has left the area
  • Evacuate from low-lying area and riverbanks and stay away from coastal areas for possible flooding and storm surge
  • All travel and outdoor activities should be cancelled
  • Watch out for the passage of the “Eye Wall and the “Eye” of the typhoon

Based on the latest Severe Weather Bulletin issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) at 8:00 AM today (Monday), October 26, 2020, Typhoon “Quinta” has maintained its strength as is now in the vicinity of Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro.

Track and Intensity Outlook

  • The center of the Typhoon is forecast to emerge over the West Philippine Sea within the next hour
  • It will then turn more west-northwestward while maintaining speed towards the western limit of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR)
  • The Typhoon is forecast to exit the PAR tomorrow morning
  • “Quinta” is forecast to remain at typhoon category throughout its passage over Mindoro Island
  • After emerging over the West Philippine Sea, this typhoon is forecast to re-intensify
  • “Quinta” may reach its peak intensity within 24 to 48 hours
