Typhoon Ofel (Usagi) has weakened after making landfall over Baggao, Cagayan. This bulletin provides updated information on affected areas, wind signals, and the expected movement of Typhoon Ofel as it continues to pose significant threats to Northern Luzon.

Severe Winds:

  • Significant to severe impacts expected within areas under Wind Signal No. 4.
  • Moderate to minor impacts in areas under Wind Signals No. 3, 2, and 1.

Coastal Inundation: High risk of life-threatening storm surge with peak heights exceeding 3.0 meters expected in coastal areas of Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Cagayan (including Babuyan Islands), Isabela, and northern Aurora.

Sea Condition Outlook

  • Very Rough to High Seas (up to 12.0 m) over the seaboards of Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, 8.0 m over Isabela and Batanes, and up to 6.0 m over Ilocos Norte. Mariners should stay in port.
  • Rough Seas (up to 4.0 m) along the northern Aurora seaboard, and up to 3.0 m in remaining coastal waters of Aurora, Ilocos Norte, and parts of Quezon and Polillo Islands.
  • Moderate Seas (up to 2.5 m) across Camarines Norte, Ilocos Sur, and Catanduanes.

Track and Intensity Outlook

After making landfall in Baggao, Cagayan at 1:30 PM, Typhoon Ofel is projected to cross northeastern Luzon this afternoon, continue northwestward near Babuyan Islands tonight, then turn northward tomorrow and track northeastward by the weekend over waters east of Taiwan.
