La Union Suspends Tourism Activities and Implements Stricter Border Restrictions




To address the increasing number of cases in the province, the Provincial Government of La Union will implement stricter border measures and temporarily suspend tourism and Holy Week activities for non-residents from March 31, 2021 to April 1, 2021.

The provincial government released on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, Executive Order No. 7, series of 2021, entitled “Providing for Stricter Border Measures due to the Increase in Number of COVID-19 Positive Cases, and Suspending Tourism and Holy Week Activities of Non-Residents in the Province of La Union“.

Effectivity

The E.O will be in effect from Wednesday, March 31, 2021, to April 15, 2021.



Restriction on Entry of Non-Residents in La Union

Non-residents of La Union are NOT ALLOWED to enter the province EXCEPT for the following Authorized Persons Outside their Residence (APORs):

  • Essential workers;
  • Health and emergency frontline services personnel;
  • Government officials and government frontline personnel;
  • Duly authorized humanitarian assistance actors;
  • Persons traveling for medical or humanitarian reasons;
  • Anyone crossing zones for work or business and going back home; and
  • Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs) and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs)

Requirements for APORs upon entry to La Union

APORs who will enter La Union for business or work-related travels shall present the following requirements at the border checkpoint:

  1. NAPANAM QR Code
  2. Government-issued ID or any equivalent showing proof of residency
  3. Negative RT-PCR/Saliva-based Test Result if APOR is coming from areas that are under ECQ, MECQ, o GCQ.

Suspension of Tourism and Holy Week Activities

Tourism and Holy Week activities for non-resident individuals are temporarily SUSPENDED.

For Tourists who have pre-approved bookings

Non-resident individuals whose travel itineraries have been previously approved and booked covering the period of suspension are advised to coordinate with the tourism-related establishment and/or travel agency that booked their travel plans in La Union for alternative arrangements.

For La Union Tourism establishments

Tourism establishments are enjoined to provide alternative options such as cancellation and refund, or rebooking of previously-approved travel itineraries/plans of individuals.
