Greener Travel with Camp John Hay’s New Electric Shuttle Loop

On August 15, 2025, the John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC), in partnership with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and private stakeholders, officially launched the John Hay Loop, an electric shuttle service designed to improve mobility, ease congestion, and promote eco-friendly transport within Camp John Hay. The launch was reported by the Department of Tourism-Cordillera (DOT-CAR), highlighting its role in boosting tourism and promoting sustainable transport in the city.

A Greener Transport Option for Baguio

The John Hay Loop aims to reduce carbon emissions and traffic bottlenecks in one of Baguio’s premier tourist destinations. Each of the three electric vehicles (EVs) can carry 22 seated and nine standing passengers, providing a sustainable alternative for both residents and visitors.

“This project moves us closer to a cleaner, faster, and more connected Baguio,” said BCDA President and CEO Engr. Joshua M. Bingcang. “Through this partnership with the private sector and international community, we are building a sustainable transport model that will benefit residents, workers, and tourists for years to come.”

Schedule and Rates

The John Hay Loop will operate daily from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

• Introductory Offer: The service will be free of charge during its demonstration run starting next week.
• Future Rates: Official fare rates have not yet been announced.

John Hay Loop Stations

The shuttle will serve eight designated stations across Camp John Hay:

• Main Gate Station – John Hay Trade and Cultural Center
• Filling Station A – near Le Monet Hotel
• Scout Hill Station A – near Camp John Hay Grounds
• Mile Hi Station A – from Forest Lodge
• Gate 4 Station – to South Drive and Outlook Drive
• Sheridan Station – near John Hay Golf
• Mile Hi Station B – going to Forest Lodge
• Filling Station B – going to Main Gate

Supporting Sustainable Development Goals

The John Hay Loop supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities and Goal 13: Climate Action. By offering a greener transport option, the project aligns with Baguio’s vision of sustainable tourism while helping preserve its natural charm.
