Benguet, La Union Remain Under Orange Rainfall Warning
Excerpt: Flooding and landslides remain a threat in Benguet, La Union, and parts of Ilocos Sur as rains caused by the Southwest Monsoon continue.
Benguet and La Union, along with three municipalities in Ilocos Sur, remain under an Orange Rainfall Warning due to rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat.
PAGASA issued Heavy Rainfall Warning No. 16 at 11:00 a.m. on August 9, 2026.
Under the Orange Warning, flooding and landslides are still threatening communities in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas.

The Orange Rainfall Warning covers:
- Benguet
- La Union
- Alilem, Sugpon, and Tagudin in Ilocos Sur
Residents in these areas should remain cautious, particularly those living near waterways, low-lying communities, and mountain slopes.
Areas Under Yellow Warning
A Yellow Rainfall Warning is in effect for the following areas:
- Pangasinan
- Abra
- Ifugao: Hungduan and Tinoc
- Mountain Province: Bauko, Besao, Sabangan, Sagada, and Tadian
- Ilocos Sur: Banayoyo, Bantay, Burgos, Cabugao, Candon City, Caoayan, Cervantes, Galimuyod, Gregorio del Pilar, Lidlidda, Magsingal, Nagbukel, Narvacan, Quirino, Salcedo, San Emilio, San Esteban, San Ildefonso, San Juan, San Vicente, Santa, Santa Catalina, Santa Cruz, Santa Lucia, Santa Maria, Santiago, Santo Domingo, Sigay, Sinait, Suyo, and Vigan City
Flooding and landslides remain possible in flood-prone and landslide-prone communities within these areas.
Rains Expected Within Two to Three Hours
Light to moderate, and at times heavy, rains are expected over the following areas within two to three hours:
- Nueva Vizcaya: Dupax del Norte, Villaverde, Solano, Quezon, Kasibu, Diadi, and Bagabag
- Kalinga: Pinukpuk, Rizal, Tanudan, and Tabuk City
- Ifugao: Alfonso Lista and Aguinaldo
- Mountain Province: Natonin and Paracelis
- Quirino
- Aurora: Casiguran and Dilasag
- Isabela
- Apayao
- Cagayan: Abulug, Alcala, Allacapan, Amulung, Aparri, Baggao, Ballesteros, Buguey, Camalaniugan, Claveria, Enrile, Gattaran, Gonzaga, Iguig, Lal-lo, Lasam, Pamplona, Peñablanca, Piat, Rizal, Sanchez Mira, Santa Ana, Santa Praxedes, Santa Teresita, Santo Niño, Solana, Tuao, and Tuguegarao City
Areas Already Experiencing Rain
At the time the warning was issued, light to moderate, and at times heavy, rains were being experienced in the following areas:
- Nueva Vizcaya: Aritao, Bambang, Ambaguio, Bayombong, Kayapa, Alfonso Castañeda, Dupax del Sur, and Santa Fe
- Ilocos Norte
- Kalinga: Balbalan, Lubuagan, Pasil, and Tinglayan
- Ifugao: Banaue, Kiangan, Lagawe, Lamut, Mayoyao, Hingyon, and Asipulo
- Mountain Province: Barlig, Bontoc, and Sadanga
- Aurora: Baler, Dinalungan, Dingalan, Dipaculao, San Luis, and Maria Aurora
These conditions may persist for two to three hours and may affect nearby areas.
Public Advised to Remain Cautious
PAGASA advised the public and concerned disaster risk reduction and management offices to continue monitoring weather conditions and take precautions against flooding and landslides.
People living along mountain slopes should watch for possible landslides, mudslides, and rockslides. Communities in areas susceptible to flash floods should also remain cautious.
The next heavy rainfall warning is scheduled to be issued at 2:00 p.m. today.
