5.4 Magnitude Earthquake Rocks Camarines Norte



In the report of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS-DOST), a 5.4 magnitude earthquake hit Camarines Norte today, February 5, 2021 (Friday) at 6:00:42 AM with a depth of 1 kilometer and tectonic origin.

The exact location according to PHIVOLCS is 14.53°N, 123.03°E – 011 km N 55° E of Tinaga Island (Vinzons) (Camarines Norte).

  • Intensity IV
    • Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte
  • Intensity III
    • Guinayangan, Quezon
  • Intensity II
    • Gumaca, Mauban and Lopez, Quezon
  • Intensity I
    • Marikina City and Pasig City, Metro Manila; San Rafael, Bulacan

Furthermore, according to PHIVOLCS’ information bulletin, no damage is expected and aftershocks are expected.

Also, before the 5.4 magnitude, at 6:00:40 AM today, a 5.1 magnitude earthquake was felt at 14.53°N, 123.03°E – 011 km N 55° E of Tinaga Island (Vinzons) (Camarines Norte).
