Warmer days ahead as PAGASA declares start of Dry Season

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has announced on Wednesday that Amihan or the Northeast Monsoon is officially over, signifying the start of the dry season.

In a press release, the weather bureau said the shifting of the wind pattern from Northeasterlies to Easterlies over most parts of the country as a result of the advancing High-Pressure Area (HPA) over the Northwestern Pacific as well as the weakening of the associated North-easterly winds and decreasing sea level pressure in the country indicates warmer conditions.

PAGASA also mentioned that day-to-day rainfall distribution across the country will be influenced mostly by easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

PUBLIC ADVICE

As the dry season starts, the agency advises the public to:

  • practice precautionary measures to protect themselves from suffering heat stress
  • optimize daily use of water for personal and domestic consumption
