Tropical Storm Pilandok is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this morning, September 3, 2026, but the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will continue to affect Northern Luzon, bringing occasional rains over Benguet and several neighboring provinces.

According to PAGASA’s Northern Luzon Local Weather Forecast issued at 5:00 AM today, occasional rains are expected over Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan and Abra due to Habagat.

Pilandok About to Exit PAR

As of 4:00 AM, the center of Tropical Storm Pilandok was estimated at 1,030 km east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon.

Pilandok has maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 90 km/h.

The tropical storm is moving northwestward at 20 km/h, with strong to gale-force winds extending outward up to 600 km from its center.

No Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal is currently hoisted.

According to PAGASA, Pilandok is forecast to exit PAR this morning and continue moving generally northwestward toward southern Japan.

It is expected to remain a tropical storm throughout the forecast period.

Occasional Rains Expected Over Benguet

Despite Pilandok’s expected exit, Habagat continues to affect Northern Luzon and the province of Aurora.

For the period from 5:00 AM today until 5:00 AM Friday, September 4, PAGASA forecasts occasional rains over:

Benguet
Ilocos Norte
Ilocos Sur
La Union
Pangasinan
Abra

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Kalinga, Apayao and Aurora, also due to Habagat.

Moderate to Strong Winds Expected

PAGASA forecasts moderate to strong winds from the southwest over Northern Luzon and Aurora Province.

Coastal waters are expected to range from moderate to very rough.

A Gale Warning is also in effect over the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon.

Very rough seas with waves reaching up to 4.5 meters are forecast over the western and southern seaboards of Batanes and the western seaboard of the Babuyan Islands.

Habagat Effects Continue Despite Pilandok’s Exit

While Pilandok is about to leave PAR and remains far from the Philippine landmass, its exit does not mean that rainy conditions will immediately end.

The Southwest Monsoon continues to affect Northern Luzon, with occasional rains forecast over Benguet and several provinces today.

Residents are advised to continue monitoring PAGASA’s local rainfall advisories and warnings, particularly in areas susceptible to flooding and landslides.
