Super Typhoon PepitoPH Continues to Threaten Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas






The Philippines is bracing for life-threatening conditions as Super Typhoon Pepito maintains its strength while moving over the sea east of the Bicol Region.

Current Status

  • Location of Center: 85 km northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte (14.6°N, 123.6°E).
  • Intensity: Maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 255 km/h, and central pressure of 925 hPa.
  • Movement: West northwestward at 15 km/h.
  • Extent of Winds: Strong to typhoon-force winds extend up to 300 km from the center.

Track and Intensity Outlook

  • Pepito will likely make landfall over northern Quezon or central Aurora between noon and afternoon today, then traverse Northern and Central Luzon.
  • It is expected to remain as a typhoon during its crossing, emerging over the West Philippine Sea tonight or early tomorrow.
