Severe Tropical Storm Bising Exits PAR, Southwest Monsoon to Continue Bringing Rains and Gusty Winds

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced that Severe Tropical Storm Bising (international name: Danas) has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). However, the Southwest Monsoon, enhanced by Bising’s circulation, will continue to bring rains and strong winds over parts of Luzon and nearby areas.

According to PAGASA’s Tropical Cyclone Bulletin No. 7-F, issued at 11:00 AM today, the center of Severe Tropical Storm Bising was estimated at 605 km north of Itbayat, Batanes (26.2°N, 121.2°E) as of 10:00 AM.

Intensity and Movement

  • Maximum sustained winds: 100 km/h near the center
  • Gustiness: Up to 125 km/h
  • Central pressure: 990 hPa
  • Movement: Northward at 35 km/h
  • Extent: Strong to storm-force winds extending outward up to 390 km from the center

No Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals are currently in effect over any part of the country.

Rainfall and Severe Winds Outlook

While Bising has left PAR, the Southwest Monsoon will continue to bring occasional heavy rains and gusty conditions:

Forecast strong to gale-force gusts:

  • Today (July 7): Ilocos Region, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, Quezon, Occidental Mindoro, Masbate, and Romblon
  • Tomorrow (July 8): Same areas plus Palawan
  • Wednesday (July 9): Ilocos Region, Cagayan, Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, Quezon, Masbate, Romblon, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan

Residents in coastal and elevated areas are advised to remain vigilant for possible flash floods and landslides.

Sea Condition Outlook

PAGASA also issued warnings for rough and moderate seas:

  • Up to 3.0 m: Seaboard of Batanes, western and northern seaboards of Babuyan Islands and Ilocos Norte
  • Up to 2.5 m: Seaboard of Zambales, remaining seaboards of Ilocos Region and Babuyan Islands
  • Up to 2.0 m: Seaboards of Bataan and Lubang Islands

Mariners of small seacrafts are advised not to venture out to sea and to take precautionary measures.

Track and Intensity Forecast

Bising is expected to continue moving north-northeast over the next 12 hours before turning northward over the East China Sea by tomorrow. It is forecast to:

  • Make landfall over Eastern China by Wednesday (July 9)
  • Weaken further into a remnant low as it moves inland

PAGASA urges the public and disaster risk reduction offices to:

  • Monitor updates regularly
  • Heed evacuation and safety advisories from local authorities
  • Prepare for continued Southwest Monsoon rains in affected areas
