PAGASA declares the start of dry season

In a statement today, March 20, 2020, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has confirmed that the dry season has officially started.

According to PAGASA Administrator Vicente Malano, the gradual shift of wind direction from northeasterly to easterly over most parts of the country due to the establishment of the High Pressure Area (HPA) over the Northwestern Pacific Ocean signified the termination of the Northeast Monsoon, otherwise known as Amihan.

PUBLIC ADVICE

As the dry season starts, the agency advises the public to:

  • practice precautionary measures to protect themselves from suffering heat stress
  • observe proper and wise usage of water for their personal and domestic consumption

The agency will also continue to monitor our day-to-day weather condition and long-term climate situation despite the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.
