UP Baguio helps stranded students

The University of the Philippines Baguio (UPB) started preparing and distributing supplementary food and basic hygiene and medical provisions to its stranded students in the city.

Some members of UPB’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management team, with the help of volunteer employees, started packing the relief goods after the school administration strategized on the process.

As UPB Chancellor Raymundo Rovillos lead the program to help stranded students, other members of the UPB community continue to do their part by helping spread the word through online platforms available.

According to UPB Director of Public Affairs Junley L. Lazaga, the university is trying its best to reach out to all its stranded students. He also said that those students residing at the UPB Residence Hall are being taken cared of as well by the dorm management.

For UPB stranded students in the city, the director advises, “Stand by, keep your communication lines open. Announcements are posted on the University official FB page and sent via UP email. The students are also being contacted following a system. To help in systematic and quick distribution, coordinate with each other. Advisory from OPA. Thank you!”

As of yesterday, areas visited for the distribution of relief packs were Cabinet Hill, Engineers Hill, DPS Compound, Bakakeng, Crystal Cave, and Sta. Escolastica.

On the other hand, areas to be visited today, March 20, 2020, include:

  • Trancoville
  • Salud Mitra
  • Gen Luna
  • Bonifacio
  • Aurora Hill

For those staying in areas not yet included, please stand by for announcements from UPB Office of Public Affairs.
