“Nanmadol” intensifies into Severe Tropical Storm; may enter PAR tonight





The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported through their latest Tropical Cyclone Advisory issued at 5:00 AM today, that a typhoon with the international name “Nanmadol” has intensified into a Severe Tropical Storm at 2:00 AM.

According to the weather bureau, Typhoon Nanmadol is forecast to gradually accelerate west northwestward today through tomorrow, then turn more
northwestward on Saturday.





The center of the eye is estimated to be located 1,830 km East Northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon (23.1°N, 139.4°E) outside PAR, it may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) region tonight or tomorrow morning and will be assigned the domestic name “Josie”.





PAGASA said that the typhoon will not directly affect the weather condition in the country as it remains far from the landmass. However, it may enhance the Southwest Monsoon and cause monsoon rains over the western section of the country in the next 24 hours.

The next weather bulletin will be released by PAGASA at 11 AM today.
