Maymay maintained maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center, with gustiness reaching up to 110 kilometers per hour.

The storm was moving eastward at 10 kilometers per hour.

PAGASA expects Maymay to continue weakening as it moves farther inland. It may weaken into a tropical depression within Thursday morning and could be downgraded into a remnant low by Thursday afternoon or evening.

Baguio City and the entire province of Benguet are under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1.

Although Baguio City is not separately named in the list, it is covered by the wind signal raised over Benguet.

Even areas outside tropical cyclone wind signals may experience sudden strong winds, particularly during periods of rain or thunderstorms.

Maymay Now Crossing Northern Luzon

After making landfall in Magsingal, Ilocos Sur, Maymay is expected to cross the mountainous terrain of Northern and Central Luzon.

Based on PAGASA’s latest forecast, the storm may emerge over the eastern coastal waters of Isabela or Cagayan.

PAGASA emphasized that the track may still shift within the forecast confidence cone.

The center of the storm is forecast to be in the vicinity of Tumauini, Isabela by Thursday afternoon.

Forecast Positions

The forecast positions may still change based on the storm’s interaction with the mountainous terrain.

Maymay Expected to Weaken Rapidly

Maymay is forecast to continue weakening while moving farther inland.

PAGASA said the storm will likely weaken into a tropical depression within Thursday morning.

It may then be downgraded into a remnant low by Thursday afternoon or evening.

However, an earlier weakening remains possible because of the storm’s interaction with the rugged terrain of Northern Luzon.

The remnant circulation of Maymay is expected to move generally southeastward before merging with the larger circulation of Tropical Cyclone Dolphin.

Gale Warning Over Western Northern Luzon

A Gale Warning remains in effect over the western seaboard of Northern Luzon.

Very rough seas with waves reaching up to five meters are expected over:

• Ilocos Sur
• La Union
• Pangasinan
• Western seaboard of Ilocos Norte

Waves reaching up to 4.5 meters are expected along the northern seaboard of Batanes.

Sea travel is considered dangerous for vessels of all types and sizes.

All mariners are advised to remain in port. Vessels already at sea should seek shelter or proceed to a safe harbor as soon as possible.

Rough Seas Expected in Other Areas

Waves reaching up to four meters are forecast over:

• Remaining seaboards of Batanes
• Seaboards of the Babuyan Islands
• Northeastern seaboard of mainland Cagayan

Waves reaching up to three meters are expected over:

• Remaining seaboards of Ilocos Norte
• Remaining seaboards of mainland Cagayan
• Eastern seaboard of Isabela
• Northeastern seaboard of Aurora
• Eastern seaboard of Davao Oriental
• Northern seaboards of Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur
• Northern seaboard of Northern Samar
• Northern and eastern seaboards of Catanduanes
• Western seaboards of Zambales and Bataan
• Northwestern Occidental Mindoro, including Lubang Islands

Small vessels, including motorbancas, should not venture out to sea under these conditions.

Moderate seas with waves reaching two to 2.5 meters are also expected over several other coastal areas in Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.

Operators of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels should take precautionary measures and avoid sailing whenever possible.
