If you are a business establishment owner in the City of Baguio, how do you apply for a safety seal for your physical store? This article provides a guide on how to apply for a safety seal in Baguio City.

Because of the pandemic, there are several restrictions that have been put in place. This is to make sure the public can go about their daily activities in the new normal with a lowered risk of contracting the coronavirus. These minimum public health standards are handwashing, contact tracing, and limiting the occupancy of establishment in order to enforce proper physical distancing.

In order to enforce these guidelines, business establishments are encouraged to apply for a Safety Seal. Here’s a step-by-step guide on applying for a safety seal for your Baguio City business.




What is a Safety Seal?

The safety seal is displayed at all entrance points of establishments to affirm to the public that the establishment has been found compliant with the minimum public health standards set by the government, including the adoption or integration with the StaySafe.ph in contact tracing application.

Why Apply for a Safety Seal?

According to the Joint Memorandum Circular No. 21-01 series of 2021 or the Implementing Guidelines of the Safety Seal Certification Program, the safety seal certification program aims to:

  • Assure the consumers and the public in general of establishments’ compliance with the minimum public health standards set by the government
  • Encourage the adoption of the StaySafe.ph digital contact tracing application to strengthen the contact tracing initiative of the government and effectively contain the spread of COVID-19; and
  • Safely reopen the economy

Who can apply for a Safety Seal

The guidelines for the safety seal shall apply to private establishments, selected public places, and government offices.




How to Apply for Safety Seal in Baguio City

Step 1: Assess

The owner or representative of the business establishment shall answer the Safety Seal Checklist and Undertaking and Representations.

Step 2: Request

Send a letter of request for inspection to the Safety Seal Inspection Team via email: [email protected]. The Permits and Licensing Division shall notify back to the applicant of the scheduled inspection.

Step 3: Inspect

The Baguio City Safety Seal Inspection Team shall validate the compliance according to the checklist during the scheduled inspection.




Step 4: Certify

After inspection, the Safety Seal Team shall inform the owner or the representative of the result of the inspection.

If the establishment is compliant:

The establishment shall be issued the Safety Seal

If the establishment is lacking in compliance:

The applicant shall be advised to correct the deficiencies and apply for re-inspection/reassessment.

Step 5: Renew

One (1) month before the expiration of your Safety Seal, the owner of the establishment can apply for renewal of his Safety Seal.

Safety Seal Validity

The Safety Seal is valid for six (6) months from the date of issuance. Tourism enterprises’ Safety Seal shall be valid for one (1) year.
