Benguet, Northern Luzon Areas to Experience Rains Through the Weekend

Habagat rains may affect Benguet and several areas in Luzon in the next three days, with PAGASA warning that rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Residents along mountain slopes are advised to monitor updates and prepare for possible landslides, mudslides, rockslides, and flash floods.

Benguet and several parts of Luzon may experience rains in the coming days as the Southwest Monsoon, locally known as Habagat, continues to affect parts of the country.

In Weather Advisory No. 22 issued at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026, PAGASA said heavy rainfall is expected over several areas in Luzon from today until Sunday, June 7.

For Benguet, the heaviest rainfall outlook is from Friday noon, June 5, until Saturday noon, June 6, when 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall may be experienced due to the Southwest Monsoon.

PAGASA said rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. This is particularly important for Benguet, where many communities are located along slopes, valleys, river systems, and upland roads.

Habagat Rains Already Affecting Parts of Benguet

As of 11:00 a.m. on June 4, PAGASA Northern Luzon PRSD reported that light to moderate to at times heavy rains were already being experienced in La Union, portions of Pangasinan, portions of Benguet, and portions of Ilocos Sur.

These rains may continue within two to three hours and may also affect nearby areas.

PAGASA also said similar conditions are expected over the rest of Benguet within the next two to three hours, along with the rest of Pangasinan, the rest of Ilocos Sur, portions of Abra, Ilocos Norte, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Nueva Vizcaya.

Rainfall Outlook in the Next Three Days

From today until Friday noon, June 5, PAGASA said 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall may affect Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan.

From Friday noon, June 5, until Saturday noon, June 6, the same amount of rainfall may affect Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan.

From Saturday noon, June 6, until Sunday noon, June 7, 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall may still affect Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and La Union.

While Benguet is specifically under the heavy rainfall outlook from June 5 to June 6, residents are advised to continue monitoring advisories, as Habagat rains may persist and weather conditions may change depending on the movement of rain clouds and local conditions.

Possible Hazards in Benguet

Due to Benguet’s terrain, prolonged rains may increase the risk of rain-induced hazards, especially in areas near mountain slopes, road cuts, rivers, creeks, and low-lying communities.

PAGASA advised residents along mountain slopes to take precautionary measures against possible landslides, mudslides, rockslides, and flash floods.

Impacts may also be worsened in areas that have already received significant rainfall in the past days. When the soil is already saturated, additional rainfall may make slopes more unstable and waterways may rise more quickly.

Public Advised to Monitor Weather Updates

The public and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices concerned are advised to monitor the weather situation and take necessary measures to protect life and property.

PAGASA Regional Services Divisions may issue Heavy Rainfall Warnings, Thunderstorm Advisories, and other severe weather information specific to their areas of responsibility.

The next Rainfall Advisory from PAGASA Northern Luzon PRSD is expected at 2:00 p.m. today. Meanwhile, the next Weather Advisory will be issued at 5:00 p.m. today unless significant changes occur.
