Baguio City: No New COVID-19 Case for 8 Days

No New COVID-19 Case in Baguio for 8 Days

An update posted by the Public Information Office – City of Baguio Official Facebook page just yesterday, April 5, 2020, the total number of confirmed cases within the city has increased a number – from the previously recorded cases which were thirteen (13), the monitor now displays fourteen (14) confirmed cases – but this does not indicate a new case of COVID-19 has been recorded. The case has already been accounted for in the previous tally but was previously listed within the Presumptive Death column until it has been confirmed by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM). The person who has been moved to the column of confirmed cases was a female resident, 55 years old, who died last March 19, 2020.

No New Confirmed COVID-19 Case in Baguio for 8 Days

This means that until yesterday the City of Pines was able to prevent a new confirmed case from increasing the city’s tally. April 5, 2020, is the eighth (8th) day since Baguio City has recorded its last confirmed COVID-19 case which was from March 28, 2020.

If the city is to maintain having no additional cases for the following days to come, Baguio City can then claim to have already, truly, flattened the curve. But until then, Mayor Benjamin Magalong urges that we should continue to sustain our vigilance and not lapse into complacency. “Thus far our COVID-19 cases have not actually become exponential because we have an obedient and cooperative community and hardworking frontliners and supportive backliners,” said Baguio Mayor Magalong.

Not a Time to Be Complacent

Even with such good news, it isn’t the time to be complacent, especially since the battle against the disease is still ongoing in our country. For now, let’s continue on following the measures our government has imposed for our good, the good of the entire Baguio City, and, of course, the whole world.

Let’s All Show Our Cooperation

Let this ray of light amid the dark days give us hope that soon, this pandemic will come to an end. May we all do our part to win this battle and pray that all who have been affected by the virus overcome the disease and regain back their health.
