Benguet Sees More Habagat Rains; Heavier Rainfall Possible Monday

Light to moderate, and at times heavy rains, are being experienced over Benguet, La Union and several other parts of Northern Luzon due to the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, according to PAGASA’s Rainfall Advisory issued at 11:00 AM today, September 5, 2026.

The rains may persist within the next two to three hours and may also affect nearby areas.

Meanwhile, PAGASA’s latest Weather Advisory shows another period of potentially heavy rainfall over Benguet, La Union, Pangasinan and other provinces from Monday noon, September 7, to Tuesday noon, September 8.

Rains Affecting Benguet and Nearby Provinces

According to PAGASA, light to moderate, and at times heavy rains, are currently being experienced over:

• Benguet
• La Union
• Portions of Pangasinan
• Portions of Nueva Vizcaya
• Maria Aurora in Aurora
• Itbayat in Batanes
• Alilem and Sugpon in Ilocos Sur

PAGASA said these conditions may persist for the next two to three hours and could affect nearby areas.

More Areas May Experience Rains

Similar conditions are expected within the next two to three hours over several other parts of Northern Luzon, including:

• Rest of Pangasinan
• Portions of Quirino
• Portions of Aurora
• Portions of Nueva Vizcaya
• Several areas of Ilocos Sur
• Besao, Tadian, Bauko and Sabangan in Mountain Province
• Hungduan, Tinoc and Asipulo in Ifugao
• Abra

The next Rainfall Advisory is expected at 2:00 PM today.

Heavy Rainfall Outlook Through September 8

In Weather Advisory No. 55 issued at 11:00 AM today, PAGASA also provided a broader heavy rainfall outlook due to Habagat.

Today to Sunday Noon, September 6

Rainfall of 50 to 100 mm is forecast over:

• Zambales
• Bataan
• Tarlac
• Pampanga
• Bulacan
• Metro Manila
• Cavite
• Rizal
• Batangas
• Occidental Mindoro

Sunday Noon to Monday Noon, September 7

Rainfall of 50 to 100 mm is forecast over:

• Zambales
• Bataan
• Tarlac
• Pampanga
• Cavite
• Batangas
• Occidental Mindoro

Monday Noon to Tuesday Noon, September 8

Rainfall of 50 to 100 mm is forecast over:

• Benguet
• La Union
• Pangasinan
• Ilocos Sur
• Abra
• Zambales
• Bataan
• Tarlac
• Pampanga
• Cavite
• Batangas
• Occidental Mindoro

This means Benguet and nearby areas of Northern Luzon may again experience a period of heavier rainfall beginning Monday afternoon.

Rainfall May Be Higher in Mountainous Areas

PAGASA emphasized that actual rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas.

The impacts of additional rain may also be worsened in places that have already received significant rainfall in recent days.

Residents in areas prone to flooding, flash floods and landslides are advised to remain alert and continue monitoring succeeding advisories and warnings.

Continue Monitoring Habagat

Habagat continues to affect a wide portion of the country, with rains already being experienced over Benguet and neighboring provinces today and another period of potentially heavy rainfall forecast for Northern Luzon early next week.

The public and local disaster risk reduction and management offices are advised to continue monitoring PAGASA updates and take necessary precautions, particularly in areas vulnerable to flooding and landslides.
