Supermart in Baguio CBD Closes for 2 Weeks After Several Employees Test Positive for COVID-19




A supermarket in the Central Business District of Baguio City has announced that they will be closing one of their branches after several of their employees test positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

In an announcement made by Victoria Supermart through their Facebook page today, they have shared that after a merchandiser who was tested positive after experiencing symptoms, they immediately shut down their operations at the Mabini branch last August 8, 2020,  to conduct mass testing on their employees.

The results of the mass testing came out today and several employees came out positive for COVID-19. Thus, they have announced that Victoria Supermart Mabini branch will be closed for the next two weeks. They also advise customers who have visited the supermarket for the past 14 days to take observe for symptoms and if so, to contact health authorities immediately.

For the past five months we have been following guidance from our City Government and the Department of Health to ensure we have the right protocols in place to safeguard the health and well-being being of our employees and customers.

Victoria Supermart – Mabini branch took immediate action when a merchandiser who was symptomatic tested positive for Covid-19. We immediately shut down our operations last Saturday and conducted a mass testing on all our employees at this branch. Results of these tests just came out today and we are disheartened to announce that several of our employees have tested positive for COVID-19.

We are working closely with our local government to halt the spread of this virus. Our Mabini branch will therefore remain close for the next 2 weeks. And we are appealing to the general public who have visited our Mabini branch for the past 14 days to please take extra precautions and closely observe if symptoms start to show. Please do contact our local health department immediately.

We pray for the full recovery of our employees who have tested positive. Reset assured we will give our full support to all our employees in this time of crisis. May the good Lord grant us peace, comfort and healing as we navigate through this trying times as one family.

Mandatory Tests for Groceries

The announcement of the supermart followed the earlier announcement of Mayor Magalong through the Public Information Office of Baguio City ordering the mandatory Reverse Transcriptase- Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR testing for grocery and department store employees after reported clustering in mentioned establishments. Banks were also asked to submit their employees to COVID-19 testing after clustering of cases have been observed by the City Health Services Office.
