PRRD Declares Monday, May 25 a Regular Holiday

Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has declared Monday, May 25, 2020, a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Fitr (Feast of Ramadhan). This proclamation has been made on Tuesday, May 19, 2020.
What is Eid’l Fitr
Eid’l Fitr, also known as the Feast of Ramadhan is celebrated by the Muslim world for three (3) days after the end of their month of fasting.
Purpose of the Holiday
This regular holiday gives the entire Filipino nation the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in the observance of the and celebration of the Eid’l Fitr. However, the President also reminded the public to continue observing social distancing during the observance of the feast.
This is as stated within the proclamation No. 944 which declares the holiday, it is “subject to existing community quarantine and social distancing measures.”
How Much is the Regular Holiday Pay of an Employee
Work Done During the Regular Holiday
According to the Department of Labor and Employment, for work done during the regular holiday the employee shall be paid 200 percent of his/her wage for the first eight hours [(basic wage + COLA) x 200%].
Did Not Work During the Regular Holiday
On the other hand, if the employee did not work, he/she shall be paid 100 percent of his/her wage for the day of the Regular Holiday [(Basic wage + COLA) x 100%].
