The Royal Family has announced the passing of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, on Friday, April 9, 2021. He was 99. The announcement was made through the Buckingham Palace’s official Facebook page and website.
It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.

In 2017, the husband of Queen Elizabeth bid goodbye to public life due to deteriorating health after more than 20,000 solo public engagements and royal duties. Since then, he was rarely seen in public, only occasionally appearing beside The Queen.
