Mayor Suspended All Eco-tourism activities in Sagada

Due to the growing concerns about the spread of the Covid-19 or also known as the Novel Corona Virus, the Mayor of Sagada, Hon. James B. Pooten Jr. has suspended all eco-tourism activities in their municipality.

According to Executive Order No. 7-20: “There is an urgent need to protect the municipality of Sagada and its residents being a top destination for tourists in the Northern Philippines, from the threat of the Covid-19 and similar strains by strictly implementing prevention and control measures” There is no information as to when the suspension is going to be lifted.

Sagada is one of the most visited places in the Philippines beyond the city of Baguio. Popular for its natural tourist destinations such as the Bomod-ok Falls, Hanging Coffins at Echo Valley, Sumaguing Cave, Kiltepan among others. Aside from these natural wonders, the municipality is also popular for its cold weather and delicious food sold at the different restaurants within the municipality.

As of the latest data from the Department of Health Cordillera Administrative Region there are 9 PUI’s (Persons Under Investigation) in the Cordillera region. Five PUI’s tested NEGATIVE from the Covid-19 and were already discharged.
