Honesty of Baguio City Residents Prevails amid COVID-19 Crisis
Starting last May 2020, “honesty carts” were put up in several areas within Baguio City. The carts were left unattended which let buyers could freely get bottled water and honestly leave payments through a contraption.
Since the residents of the City of Baguio are best known for their honesty, despite the existence of the COVID-19 pandemic, they are able to continue to live up to the expectations.
On a report provided by the Public Information Office – City of Baguio on June 4, 2020, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong stated that there has been no under-collection reported by the private company which put up the honesty carts.
On another report made public by PIO Baguio on June 19, 2020, Baguio folk’s honesty was still reported to have impressed the highest-ranking officer of one of the country’s biggest beverage distributors.
Following the story of honesty of Baguio City residents, on July 17, 2020, the Public Information Office – City of Baguio has yet again reported good results. This has been revealed by a private company that put up the honesty carts.
According to the business developer of the company, for its second month of operation, they have collected P17,275 which exceeded the total yield of P16,896 by P379.
For the previous month, on the other hand, the company likewise exceeded its benchmark by P334. The expected yield was P1,756, but they have collected P2,090 instead.
As its share from the project’s second month of operations, the company handed P4,798 to the city.
