Heavy Traffic Expected on Kennon Road Due to Maintenance Works
Motorists planning to use Kennon Road in the coming days are advised to expect heavy traffic flow as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Cordillera begins maintenance works on a section of the road.
In an advisory released on June 10, 2025, the DPWH Cordillera announced that maintenance activities will be conducted at the approaches of the temporary bridge along the bypass road in Camp 2, Tuba, Benguet. The work is scheduled for June 11 to 13, 2025.
Due to these activities, a heavy flow of traffic is anticipated along this stretch of Kennon Road throughout the maintenance period.
Light Vehicles Only
The DPWH also reminded the public that Kennon Road remains open only to light vehicles. Drivers of buses, large trucks, and other heavy vehicles are prohibited from using the road and should take alternate routes.
Travel Advisory
Motorists are urged to plan their trips accordingly:
- Expect possible delays and slow-moving traffic along the affected section.
- If possible, consider taking alternative routes such as Marcos Highway or Asin-Nangalisan Road during the maintenance period.
- Drive cautiously, follow traffic signs, and heed instructions from traffic enforcers along the road.
Kennon Road, one of the main routes connecting Baguio City and lowland areas, is known for its scenic views but is also prone to traffic disruptions due to maintenance work and weather-related events. The current maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to improve the safety and reliability of this vital mountain highway.
