Elon Musk Activates Starlink in Ukraine to Help Restore Connection Amidst Conflict

SpaceX billionaire Elon Musk heeded the call of Ukraine for internet connection which has been disrupted due to the Russian invasion happening throughout the country.

The plea was tweeted by a Ukrainian government official on Saturday, appealing to Musk to help restore connectivity by providing Starlink terminals.

“@elonmusk, while you try to colonize Mars — Russia try to occupy Ukraine! While your rockets successfully land from space — Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civil people!,” Ukraine Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov tweeted.

“We ask you to provide Ukraine with Starlink stations and to address sane Russians to stand.” Fedorov added.

Musk later replied that Starlink services are now active in Ukraine, with more terminals coming to aid the country.

Musk’s Starlink uses advanced satellites deployed by SpaceX to provide high=speed broadband satellite internet access suited for areas where connectivity has been unreliable or completely unavailable. With the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, essential services have been put on halt in Ukraine, especially in the southern and eastern parts of the country where fighting has been the heaviest, according to Reuters.
