DOST Scholarship 2023 JLSS Applications Now Open; Here’s How To Apply

Pursuing higher education in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields? The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) brings you an opportunity to achieve your dreams through the Junior Level Science Scholarships (JLSS) Program 2023. This scholarship aims to aid deserving students in their undergraduate studies and inspire them to contribute to the country’s scientific and technological advancements. Read on to learn about the online application process for the DOST JLSS 2023.

The Junior Level Science Scholarship (JLSS) Program is designed with a dual purpose. Firstly, it provides scholarships to finance the academic pursuits of gifted and deserving third-year college students who are engaged in science and technology degree programs. Secondly, it ensures a consistent and ample provision of qualified Science and Technology (S&T) professionals, capable of propelling the nation towards progress.

Under the DOST-SEI, there are three distinct scholarship categories for incoming college students.

Who are Eligible for the DOST JLSS Program 2023?

  •  REGULAR second year college male and female students enrolled in a DOST-SEI priority S&T course at identified universities in the Second Semester of AY 2022-2023.
  • Must have a general weighted average of at least 83% or its equivalent and with no conditional or failing mark from the First Semester of First Year until the First Semester of Second Year in college, including in the midyear terms, if enrolled.
  • Must be natural-born Filipino citizen.
  • Must be of good moral character and in good health.
  • May have taken the DOST-SEI Scholarship Examination before but did not pass or have qualified for the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship but did not avail the scholarship award.

How to Apply Online for the DOST JLSS 2023

Important Things to Note and Prepare Before Application

  • Valid Email Address
  • Working Mobile Number/s
    • Provide a working number where you can be contacted in relation to your application
  • Security of Access Credentials
    • Your Application ID will serve as your access credential to the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship E-Application System. Keep your access credential secure at all times.
  • No Multiple Accounts
    • Refrain from creating multiple accounts as it might cause a delay in accessing your application form
  • Stable Internet Connection
    • Make sure you have a stable internet connection that is capable of uploading documents so that your application will go smoothly.

You should prepare the following information before filing your E-Application:

  1. Father’s Annual Gross Income
  2. Mother’s Annual Gross Income
  3. If Legal Guardian is supporting Applicant, Legal Guardian’s Annual Gross Income
  4. If family receives contribution from outside source: the giver, the amount of the contribution and the purpose of the contribution
  5. If family owns agricultural land: how many hectares
  6. If family owns vehicle: type, year and model

    • Type: Ex. tricycle, passenger jeep, owner jeep, car, van
    • Year and Model: Ex. 2022 Toyota Revo

Print the following forms in A4-sized bond paper. Have them signed by the proper authorities indicated in the forms. Scan/Take a picture and save each file. Name each file: (Surname-Form __) when saving it before uploading each form using the Upload Module in the E-Application System. Use the appropriate upload field for each file.

  1. Form C – Certificate of Good Moral Character
  2. Form D – Certificate of Good Health
  3. Form E- Certificate of Program of Study and Year Level
  4. Form F – Certificate of Residency
  5. Form G – Commitment to Return of Service
  6. Form H – Applicant’s Certification Re: Not a DOST Scholar prior to this application
  7. Form I – Signed Declaration of Applicant and the Parent/Legal Guardian
  1. Official Transcript of Records (TOR) or True Copy of Grades (TCG) or Grade Report downloaded from the portal for First Semester of First Year until the First Semester of Second Year in college, including in the midyear terms, if enrolled.
    • Must be duly signed by the University Registrar/Dean of College
  2. Recent passport-size picture (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm or 1.8 inches x 1.4 inches)
    • Must show the face of the Applicant, 80% of the picture
    • Must be colored, with white background
    • With the name tag position at approximately 1 inch or 2.54 cm below the chin): Full name, handwritten- First Name, Middle Initial, Last Name, and Extension Name, if any (e.g. JUAN C. DELA CRUZ, JR.), and signature over printed name
    • Taken within the last three (3) months prior to the filing of the application
  3. PSA, NSO, or the Municipal Registry Office Birth Certificate
  4. Clear, signed copy of Parent/s or Legal Guardian’s 2020 Income Tax Return / BIR Form 1701 / Employment Contract for OFW / BIR Certificate of Exemption from Filing of ITR / Certificate of Indigency / Certificate of Employment with Compensation / Proof of Pension
    • Annual Gross Income must be clearly indicated in the document.
  5. Notarized Affidavit of Guardianship
    • Must be submitted if the applicant is not living together with either of the parents

What are the Deadlines for the DOST JLSS 2023 Application?

  • Start of Online Application Period:  June 5, 2023
  • Last Day of Online Application and Uploading of Requirements: July 28, 2023
  • Schedule of Qualifying Examination: August 26-27, 2023

Pertinent information about the examination will be indicated in the test permit which will be sent to the applicant’s registered email address on August 21, 2023.
