Benguet now under signal number 1 as Kristine continue to move northwest
As of 11:00 AM, October 22, 2024, Tropical Storm Kristine continues to move west-northwestward across the Philippine Sea, maintaining its strength with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h and gusts of up to 80 km/h. The storm is currently located 335 km east of Virac, Catanduanes, and is slowly advancing towards the Bicol Region.

Other Hazards Affecting Land Areas
- Heavy Rainfall: Heavy rains are expected in areas affected by the storm. Please refer to Weather Advisory No. 7 for more details.
- Storm Surge: There is a moderate to high risk of life-threatening storm surges in low-lying coastal areas of Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Albay, Aurora, Isabela, and Cagayan. Residents in these areas are urged to follow local evacuation orders.
- Severe Winds: Areas under TCWS No. 2 can expect moderate impacts from gale-force winds, while areas under TCWS No. 1 will experience minor wind effects.
Hazards Affecting Coastal Waters
A Gale Warning remains in effect over the eastern seaboard of Luzon, southern Luzon, and eastern Visayas. Sea conditions in these areas will range from rough to high seas, making sea travel extremely dangerous.
Track and Intensity Outlook
Tropical Storm Kristine is forecast to move northwestward and may make landfall over Isabela or Northern Aurora tomorrow evening (October 23) or early Thursday morning. The storm is expected to intensify into a severe tropical storm before landfall and may weaken slightly as it crosses Northern Luzon. It could potentially reach typhoon strength once it exits into the West Philippine Sea by Friday, October 25.
