Baguio City temporarily suspends leisure travel requests starting January 2, 2022
The Baguio City government through the Baguio Tourism office has announced that leisure travel requests into the city are temporarily suspended. This is due to the fact that there is a surge of cases in the Philippines brought about by the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
What are the implications of the suspension?
- This means that any request for leisure travel through the Baguio VISITA will be temporarily suspended until further notice.
- For those who have pending travel requests, your leisure travel requests are considered REJECTED and you will not be allowed entry.
- For those who have existing PRE-APPROVED travels with issued QTP. Your request will still be honored and you will be allowed entry on your declared travel date, subject to mandatory triage. Note, however, that such allowed entry MAY CHANGE in the future but with the prior announcement, thus, watch out for any updates.
For APORs and Essential/Official Travels registration is required at hdf.baguio.gov.ph and the necessary documentary requirements and triage screening must be strictly followed.
Just upon the implementation of the temporary suspension, the Philippines recorded 4,600 new COVID-19 cases which are the highest recorded since October 24, 2021. Baguio City’s cases last January 1, 2022, rose to 18 new cases.
