Baguio City records 725 new cases and 5 fatalities today, January 20, 2022

After recording a notable decrease in the number of daily cases yesterday, the City of Baguio has broken past the highest number of cases recorded in a single day since the surge of the Delta variant of the coronavirus. As of 6:00 pm today, Baguio City has logged 725 cases.

Among the 725 cases, 180 cases are asymptomatic, 535 are experiencing mild symptoms, 9 currently have moderate symptoms, and 1 patient is in critical condition.

5 patients, 1 male and 4 females, have succumbed to the coronavirus today, all of them with co-morbid conditions and died of covid pneumonia.

Meanwhile, no new lockdown orders have been issued nor lifted. The Omicron variant continues to threaten the city, recently confirming two cases that have tested positive of the highly-transmissible variant. The public is urged to heighten strict observance in the minimum public health protocols to help mitigate the ongoing surge.
