Baguio City recorded 262 new cases yesterday January 20, 2022




Baguio city reported a decrease in the number of cases yesterday with 262 new cases. This is a significant decrease compared to the past three days in terms of the number of daily cases recorded. This is still however far from the notable decrease of daily cases last December 2021 where the recorded daily cases have gone to a single digit and in some days, zero cases recorded.

In yesterday’s recorded cases, most of those who tested positive are having mild symptoms, followed by asymptomatic individuals. The breakdown of classification is as follows:

  • Asymptomatic – 57
  • Mild – 198
  • Moderate – 5
  • Severe – 1
  • Critical – 1

Baguio City also recorded 326 new recoveries as well as zer0 deaths yesterday. With these new cases, the total number of active cases in Baguio City is now up at 3,926. With the increase of cases also comes new lockdown orders, since yesterday January 19, 2022, the area under a new lockdown order is at:

  • Engineer’s Hill – Manrique Street

This area is added on top of the areas with existing lockdown orders.

With the confirmation that the Omicron variant is already present in Baguio City as early as December 2021 based on the two confirmed cases released by DOH-Cordillera. The Department of Health reiterated that the public has to observe and practice the minimum public health protocols to help stop the spread of this highly contagious COVID-19 variant.
