Baguio-Bound Routes Mostly Passable; Restrictions Remain Across Cordillera

Three Baguio-bound roads remain passable as of August 11, 2026, while Kennon Road is temporarily closed to non-residents. The Department of Public Works and Highways-Cordillera Administrative Region (DPWH-CAR) also reported road closures and travel restrictions in several parts of the Cordillera.

The advisories cover specific road sections. This means a highway may be generally passable while portions of it are limited to one lane.

Baguio-Bound Road Advisory

Passable

The following Baguio-bound routes are listed as passable:

• Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Road
• Marcos Highway
• Baguio-Bauang Road, also known as Naguilian Road

However, a section of Baguio-Bauang Road in Banangan, Sablan is limited to one lane due to a sinking road section.

Halsema Highway Limited to One Lane

One lane of Baguio-Bontoc Road, also known as Halsema Highway, is passable in Caliking, Atok, Benguet.

The affected section has been reduced to one lane due to a road slip. Motorists should expect possible delays and follow traffic instructions.

Kennon Road Closed to Non-Residents

Kennon Road remains temporarily closed to non-residents until further notice.

According to DPWH-CAR, continuous heavy rainfall may cause slope failures, rockfalls, and landslides. The restriction remains in place while clearing operations and safety assessments are being conducted.

Non-residents may use the following alternative routes, subject to prevailing road conditions:

• Marcos Highway
• Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Road

Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road Not Passable in Beckel

The Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road is not passable in Beckel, La Trinidad, due to a road slip.

Motorists may use:

• Marlboro-Beckel Road
• Labey-Lacamen Road

Other National Roads and Bridges in the Cordillera

Separate from the Baguio-bound road advisory, DPWH-CAR also reported the following conditions along other national roads and bridges in Apayao, Benguet, Kalinga, and Mountain Province.

Apayao

Apayao (Calanasan)-Ilocos Norte Road

Light vehicles only:

• Bunot Bridge 2 in Barangay Tanglagan, Calanasan, due to a damaged abutment slope
• Ayayao Bridge in Barangay Eva, Calanasan, due to a scoured bridge abutment footing

One lane is passable at intermittent sections affected by road slips in Barangays Parina, Tanglagan, and Eva.

Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road

Light vehicles only:

• Sugoc Bridge in Barangay Ninoy, Calanasan, due to a scoured approach slab

One lane is passable at intermittent sections in Barangays Sta. Elena, Eva, Naguilian, Eleazar, Ferdinand, Kabugawan, and Namaltugan due to road slips.

Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road

One lane is passable at intermittent sections in Barangays Namaltugan, Tubungan, and Butao in Calanasan due to road slips.

Kabugao-Pudtol-Luna-Cagayan Boundary Road

Light vehicles only:

• Pudtol Bridge in Barangay Emilia, Pudtol

One lane is passable at intermittent sections in Barangays Aurora and Lower Maton in Pudtol due to road slips.

Ayaga-Sta. Marcela-Flora-Lasam Road

One lane is passable at intermittent sections in Barangays Bagutong and Malayugan in Flora due to road slips.

Benguet

Not Passable

The following roads are not passable:

• Baguio-Itogon Road at Sitio Goldfield, Barangay Poblacion, Itogon
  Alternate route: Ucab-Midas Road
• Tawang-Ambiong Road
  Alternate routes: Shilan-Beckel Road or Baguio-Bontoc Road

One-Lane Sections

The following sections are limited to one lane:

• Pico-Lamtang Road: Pico Bridge No. 2, due to cracks on its girders
• Itogon-Dalupirip Road: Barangay Dalupirip, Itogon, due to soil or rock collapse
• Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road: Sagpat and Palina in Kibungan, and Ampusongan in Bakun, due to soil or rock collapse
• Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road: affected sections in Ambuclao, Sitio Bangao, Poblacion, Pito, and Bobok-Bisal in Bokod, due to soil or rock collapse
• Congressman Andres Acop Cosalan Road: Barangay Gusaran in Kabayan and Bogao, Bila in Bokod, due to soil or rock collapse
• Baguio-Bauang Road: Banangan, Sablan, due to a sinking road section

The one-lane sections of Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road in Bokod are separate from the impassable section in Beckel, La Trinidad.

Kalinga

Tabuk-Banawe via Tanudan-Barlig Road

The road is not passable in Dupligan, Tanudan, due to a sunken road section.

Alternate route:

• Cudal-Pangol-Gombuwoy Road

Mt. Province Boundary-Calanan-Abbut Road

Makilo Bailey Bridge in Bugnay, Tinglayan is open only to light vehicles weighing no more than five tons. Long-bodied vehicles are not allowed.

Manuel S. Agyao Boulevard

Aliog Bridge in Nambaran, Tabuk City has a five-ton weight limit and a vertical clearance of three meters.

Heavy vehicles may use Bulo National Road through Callagdao-Bulo-Agbannawag.

Mountain Province

Not Passable

The Mountain Province-Ilocos Sur Road via Tue is not passable in Balaoa, Tadian.

Alternate route:

• Mountain Province-Ilocos Sur Road via Kayan

One-Lane Sections

The following roads are limited to one lane due to slope collapse:

• Mountain Province-Tabuk-Enrile Road at Sitio Agadchang, Betwagan, Sadanga
• Baguio-Bontoc Road at Sitio Tabbak, Sabangan

Intermittent Opening and Closure

The Junction Talubin-Barlig-Calaccad Road at Sitio Pingew, Barangay Talubin, Bontoc is under an open-and-close arrangement due to an unstable slope and road cut.

Motorists are advised to slow down, follow road signs and traffic personnel, and monitor official DPWH-CAR and local government advisories before traveling.
