Super Typhoon Uwan has intensified further as it moves closer to Luzon, bringing life-threatening winds and storm surge to parts of the Bicol Region. Catanduanes is now experiencing the full force of the super typhoon, with landfall expected over Aurora Province tonight or early tomorrow morning.
Introduction
According to the 8:00 AM bulletin from PAGASA, the center of Super Typhoon Uwan was last estimated at 125 km east-northeast of Virac, Catanduanes (14.0°N, 125.3°E). The typhoon is moving west-northwestward at 25 km/h with maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 230 km/h.
Uwan is expected to maintain its strength as it passes close to Catanduanes this morning and possibly makes landfall in Aurora tonight or early Monday morning. It may hit land at or near peak intensity before weakening as it crosses Northern Luzon’s mountainous terrain.
Track and Intensity Outlook
The super typhoon will traverse Luzon, potentially emerging over the Lingayen Gulf by Monday morning. By Tuesday (November 11), Uwan will move northwestward and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), later passing near Taiwan before leaving PAR completely by Friday, November 14.

Life-threatening storm surges exceeding 3 meters are expected within 48 hours over low-lying and coastal communities of:
Cagayan, Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, and Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands.
Residents in coastal and low-lying areas are urged to evacuate immediately and heed local government advisories.
Hazards Affecting Coastal Waters
A Gale Warning is in effect over the seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon, the eastern and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon, the eastern and central seaboards of Visayas, and the eastern seaboard of Mindanao.
Sea travel remains extremely dangerous for all types of vessels, with wave heights reaching up to 14 meters in eastern seaboards.
Public Advisory
Expect widespread power and communication disruptions in areas under Signals 4 and 5.
Suspend travel and outdoor activities.
Residents in flood-prone and coastal zones must move to higher ground or designated evacuation centers.
Continue to monitor official bulletins from PAGASA, NDRRMC, and local authorities.
Summary
Super Typhoon Uwan continues to pose a grave threat to Luzon, particularly to the Bicol Region, Central Luzon, and Northern Luzon provinces. With its powerful winds, torrential rains, and destructive storm surge, Uwan is expected to cause severe impacts even in areas far from its landfall site.
The public is strongly advised to stay indoors, remain alert, and follow all safety and evacuation instructions issued by local officials.
