This phone has powerful features and it’s priced below 8,000 pesos

The pandemic has certainly changed the way we live and the way we spend our money. Nowadays, buying a new phone can be considered a luxury especially if your current phone is still working. Sometimes, even if we really need it, we would have to think twice before buying a new phone as bills and other essential expenses has to take the front seat. Sometimes it is even unfortunate that the budget we did earmark for the purchase of a phone is only enough to buy an entry-level phone with abysmal (horrible) features. Makes you kinda want to hold off buying a new phone until things get better or maybe settle on buying a phone with such horrible features where you can’t even get the things you need to be done.

Drooling on a Phone Launch

Scrolling on Facebook last night, we chanced upon the launch of a new phone. This is how new phones are introduced to the public, no big conventions, no large audience, only a Facebook streaming video. For some reason, we were glued to watching the stream. As the speaker started to enumerate the features of the phone, we can only guess that the phone would again cost at least similar to a mid-range phone, priced at about P12K-15K. The phone has a display size of 6.53 inches. The screen or display is also FHD, upon doing a quick google search FHD means “Full High Definition” which has a resolution of 1920x1080P. For us, this interprets as a large and clear display, one that is pleasing to the eyes.

The Essential Features

Another striking feature of this phone is that it has a 6,000 mAh battery! Now to give you a bit more context and perspective, most phones have batteries only up to 5,000 mAh. The last time we saw a phone with that kind of battery is on a gaming phone, you know, the phones that were primarily designed for gaming? Blackshark and ROG 3 to name a few.

Of course, a phone is not complete without a camera, and these days a good camera is an essential part of the phone. It is definitely a must-have! One wouldn’t dare share a photo online, that is dark, blurry or grainy brought about a poor camera quality. However, this phone has a triple rear camera system with the main camera having 48MP! Take a look at your old phone for a sec, the one you bought three or five years ago, what was the camera resolution? For us, it was 12MP. The front camera of this phone is at 8MP, which is fairly low if it is priced according to what we think it’s priced.

Of course taking photos, downloading apps, all take-up storage space on your phone. It was announced that this phone will be sold in two variants, both variants having a 4GB RAM but with different storage capacity, one at 64GB and the other at 128GB. Of course one would choose the higher version, we always feel like this is a sales strategy, until we learned that you can expand the storage as the phone has a 2 SIM + 1 slot where you can use up to 512GB microSD card. So if you can expand the ROM and have no budget for the high-end version, you could at least the lower-end version and use the MicroSD card you have lying around the house.

Okay, so for all of these features to efficiently come together, it has to be powered by a good processor chip. The phone is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 and according to the speaker during the launch, it is one of the newest chips from Qualcomm and it fares better than the recently released 665 version.

More Features and the Price

Watching the launch as the speaker enumerated more features such as IR Blaster, side fingerprint sensor, dual speakers, USB-type C, and 18W Fast Charging capability among others, we could not wait for the announcement of the price. However, from the looks of it, it might be a lot more expensive than we initially thought. So the moment of we have been waiting for has arrived, the price. When it was announced our eyes widened with amazement! For a phone with all those features, it was priced at $149 for the 4GB RAM/64GB ROM variant and $169 for the 4GB RAM / 128GB ROM variant for the POCO M3! If you noticed, we haven’t mentioned the phone brand until now, because this article is not sponsored and only a full account of what we experienced watching the launch yesterday. Anyway, we checked online to see if this is available in the Philippines and it is available via Lazada and according to their Facebook page, their price in peso is P6,990 for the 4GB/64GB variant and P7,990 for the 4GB/128GB variant.

However, as a special promo, those who will purchase this phone on November 27-28, 2020 will get a P1,000 discount, lowering the price to P5,990 and P6,990 respectively. With or without the discount, the price is still a value for your money since you will be getting tons of useful features and more with the POCO M3.

So if you are on a budget but like us, you are in dire need of a phone for one reason or another, this might be the best choice for you as it is packed full of features and buying it will not require your arm, leg or kidney for that matter.
