On a tropical cyclone warning released by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) this afternoon (5:00 PM) of Jyly 13, 2020, the Tropical Depression”Carina” is reported to have maintained its strength while moving west-northwestward.
Note that this update is only valid until PAGASA issues their next advisory which is expected to be out at about 8:00 PM today.
As of 4:00 PM today, the eye of TD Carina, based on all available data, was estimated at 165 km East of Aparri, Cagayan.
Moving West Northwestward at 15 km/h with the maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 55 km/h, the Tropical Depression “Carina” is heading west-northwestward towards the Luzon Strait.
It is passing roughly 100 km off the northeastern tip of Luzon and near Babuyan Islands and Batanes. However, according to PAGASA, a landfall scenario over these areas remains a possibility.
With regards to its intensity outlook, TD Carina is forecast to weaken into a Low Pressure Area on Wednesday.
Scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains and scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rains will also be experienced by some areas in the country outside the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS). Here are the following areas to take appropriate measure due to the rainfall:
