On issues of homosexuality/ethnicity/religion in PMA
We in PMA do not discriminate applicants in terms of sex, religion or ethnicity so long as he or she complies with all the requirements and qualified for training.
Once inside PMA, he or she must strictly abide with well-established norms, procedures and code of conduct which is in keeping with the tradition and highest standards of cadetship/soldiery.
How does the Honor System in the PMA work?
Cadets in the PMA are bounded by a unique code of conduct that is the Honor System that requires absolute adherence. The Code provides that the cadets do not lie, cheat, steal nor tolerate among them those who do. Upon entry to the Academy, new cadets shall be properly indoctrinated on the basic tenets of the Honor Code and upon incorporation to the Regular Corps, they shall be subjected to its application.
The Honor System is a gentleman’s agreement among cadets and can only be appreciated in its proper context by cadets and the alumni of this institution who had undergone the rigors of cadetship. The code does not distinguish among classes, gender or religion, neither does it allow for leniency based in the gravity of the offense – it is therefore absolute. Once a cadet is reported to have violated the code, his/her peers and subordinates will subject him/her to a fair hearing. If found guilty, he/she has the option to resign.
Does PMA have medical facility?
Yes, The Fort del Pilar Station Hospital (FDPSH) and Dental Dispensary have adequate facilities and equipment to attend to the medical needs of the cadets. It provides free examination, consultation or treatment during sick call.
With the implementation of the K+12 program, we are required to undergo the Senior High School. If presently enrolled in Grade 11, are we eligible to apply for PMA?
No, you have to complete the K+12 basic education program but if you are currently in Grade 12, provided that you are at least 17 years old and not more than 22 years old on 01 June of the year of admission, you may already take the PMA Entrance Examination.
