Qualifications for Admission to PMA

Before applying, make sure you meet all the qualifications to become a PMA cadet:

  • Filipino Citizen: You must be a natural-born or naturalized Filipino citizen.
  • Physical Fitness and Character: You should be physically fit and of good moral character.
  • Civil Status: You must have never been married, never been pregnant (for female applicants), and should not have any legal obligations to support a child or children.
  • Educational Requirement: You must be at least a Senior High School (Grade 12) graduate with a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 85% or higher.
  • Clean Record: You must have no administrative or criminal cases filed against you.
  • Height Requirement: You must be at least 5 feet tall (for both male and female applicants).
  • Age Requirement: You must be at least 17 years old but not more than 22 years old on the day of admission to PMA.

Ready to apply? Here’s what you need to prepare before registering online:

  • A computer or smartphone with stable internet access.
  • A working email address you can easily access.
  • A scanned copy of your PSA birth certificate.
  • A scanned copy of your Form 137 or Form 138 showing your GWA (General Weighted Average) of at least 85%.

Note: Save all pages of each document in JPEG format and combine them into a single file before uploading to the PMA Online Cadet Application System.

Common Reasons for Disqualification

  • Communicable Diseases: Including Tuberculosis, Leprosy, Mumps, HIV/AIDS, Influenza, and Malaria.
  • Physical Deformities: Such as incomplete limbs, Down Syndrome, blindness, deaf/mute.
  • Scoliosis: Abnormal curvature of the spine.
  • Tattoos: Not allowed for applicants.
  • Other Medical Conditions: As determined by the AFP Medical Board Nr 1.

    • None, as long as you still meet the qualifications.
  • I applied by mail but did not receive a permit or notice. What should I do?
    • Check the master list for online applicants. If your name is not listed but you believe you are qualified, contact the Academy Registrar.
  • What should I bring on exam day?
    • Photocopy of Birth Certificate and Grades
    • 2×2 ID Picture
    • Valid ID (preferably school ID or driver’s license)

  • Can I walk in and take the exam without applying online or by mail?
    • Yes, but you will be last priority. Priority will be given to regular applicants.
  • How much is the fee for the PMAEE?
    • The PMA Entrance Exam is FREE.
  • How should I prepare for the exam?
    • Review Algebra, Geometry, Grammar, Composition, Reading and Comprehension, Verbal/Numerical Reasoning, and Pattern Analysis.
  • How long is the exam?
    • Administrative activities are from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The exam proper starts at 12:00 NN and ends at 4:30 PM.
