Panagbenga 2020 CANCELLED, Night Market and other crowd-drawing activities SUSPENDED

From the first cancellation of the Panagbenga Festival a day before its original opening day, to the announcement of the new schedule, Mayor Magalong has officially announced today in a Facebook Live/press conference regarding the Baguio City Interagency Task Force on COVID-19 with DOH Cordillera Regional Director Amelita Paniligan, that the Panagbenga Festival 2020 is CANCELLED. Other crowd-drawing activities in the city, such as the CARAA 2020 and Sunday Pedestrianization are also suspended. As for the Baguio City Night Market, it will be suspended for 14 days starting tomorrow, March 10, 2020.

Zero COVID-19 confirmed case in CAR

As of today, there is still no confirmed case of COVID-19 in the region but as a proactive decision by the city government, the Panagbenga Festival 2020 is already totally CANCELLED – from the Opening Day Parade, Grand Street Float Parade, Grand Street Parade, to Session in Bloom and even the Closing Ceremony due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus 2019). However, regarding the Baguio Blooms Exposition which was originally extended until April 15, a separate meeting will be conducted.
