PAGASA: Tropical Depression “Ulysses” Accelerates and Slightly Intensifies

The Tropical Depression “Ulysses” accelerates and slightly intensifies while moving northwestward over the Philippine Sea, based on the latest Severe Weather Bulletin issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) at at 11:00 AM today (Monday), November 9, 2020.

Track and Intensity Outlook

• On the forecast track, “Ulysses” will move generally northwestward today through tomorrow morning
• Afterwards, it is forecast to turn westward and head towards the Bicol Region-Quezon area
• A landfall over Bicol Region- Quezon area on Wednesday is likely at this time
• “Ulysses” is forecast to further intensify and is likely to reach Tropical Storm category within 24 hours
• It may reach Typhoon category on Wednesday prior to landfall

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal

Currently, there is no Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal in effect and Tropical Depression “Ulysses” is not directly causing severe weather over any portion of the country.

However, in anticipation of the onset of strong breeze to near gale conditions associated with “Ulysses”, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal no. 1 may be raised over some localities in Bicol Region or Eastern Visayas as early as tonight or tomorrow early morning, according to PAGASA.
