No UPCAT for AY 2021-2022 due to Pandemic

The Univesity of the Philippines (UP) has announced today, November 10, 2020 (Tuesday), that there will be no UP College Admission Test (UPCAT) for the admissions of freshmen students in Academic Year (AY) 2021-2022 due to the pandemic.

In addition, it was stated on the announcement that UP Office of Admissions is (OADms) currently modifying the freshmen admissions system for the next intake year.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, University Councils across the UP System unanimously decided not to hold the #UPCAT for the admission of first year students in AY 2021-2022. Instead, the UP Office of Admissions is currently modifying the freshmen admissions system for the next intake year.

Furthermore, according to the memorandum issued by the UP Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs on October 30, 2020, the online UPCAT examination was not considered by the majority of the University Council (UC) members.

“……majority of the UC members did not consider an online UPCAT examination feasible either. This is primarily due to the length of the exam and variety of items that would require a consistently strong Internet connection to download within the time allotted for examinees to answer.”

In addition, OAdms has set the start of the application period in December 2020 and the exact date is to be announced.
