According to the DOTr, Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez approved the recommendation of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to implement fare adjustments that had been suspended in March 2026. The agency cited the continued rise in fuel prices and its impact on the transportation sector.

Traditional Jeepney Fare: ₱14 Minimum
The minimum fare for a traditional public utility jeepney increases from ₱13 to ₱14 for the first four kilometers.
For every kilometer after the first four kilometers, the regular fare increases by ₱2 per succeeding kilometer.

How is the traditional jeepney fare computed?
For regular passengers:
- First 4 kilometers: ₱14
- Each succeeding kilometer: add ₱2
For example, a 10-kilometer trip would be:
₱14 + (6 × ₱2) = ₱26
Modern and Electric Jeepney Fare: ₱17 Minimum
For air-conditioned modern and electric public utility jeepneys, the minimum fare increases from ₱15 to ₱17 for the first four kilometers.
Each succeeding kilometer will cost an additional ₱2.40.

How is the modern jeepney fare computed?
- First 4 kilometers: ₱17
- Each succeeding kilometer: add ₱2.40
20% Discount Remains for Students, Senior Citizens and PWDs
The 20% fare discount for students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities continues to apply under the adjusted jeepney fares.
According to the official LTFRB fare matrices, fares are rounded to the nearest 25 centavos.
This is why, for example, the discounted minimum fare for a traditional jeepney is listed at ₱11.25, while the discounted minimum fare for a modern jeepney is ₱13.50.
The LTFRB fare guide also states that students are entitled to the discount every day, including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, pursuant to Memorandum Circular 2017-024.
Taxi Flag-Down Rate Goes Up to ₱65 Provisionally
The LTFRB also announced provisional fare increases for regular and premium taxi services.

For regular taxis, including those commonly used in Baguio City, the provisional flag-down rate increases from ₱50 to ₱65.
What does provisional mean?
The taxi fare increase is not yet a final permanent adjustment.
According to the LTFRB, a provisional fare increase is a temporary additional fare that may be implemented while the appropriate review and fare adjustment process is being conducted. The rate may still change depending on the agency’s final decision.
UV Express Gets Provisional Fare Increase
UV Express services are also covered by provisional fare adjustments.

Transport Network Vehicle Services or TNVS will also have higher base fares starting September 28.

P2P Bus Fares Increase by 15%
Point-to-Point or P2P bus services will implement a 15% increase based on the existing fare of each route.
This means there is no single peso amount that applies to all P2P buses. The actual fare will depend on the existing rate for the particular route.
Metro and City Bus Fares
The approved rates for Metro and city buses are as follows:

- Students, senior citizens and PWDs: 20% discount continues to apply

When Do the New Fares Take Effect?
The approved fare adjustments will take effect starting Monday, September 28, 2026.
