Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang kicks off 2021 with a comeback win vs. Japanese opponent
Team Lakay’s Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang started the year with victory after successfully knocking out Japanese foe Namiki Kawahara in ONE: Unbreakable on Friday, January 22 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The Cordilleran strawweight MMA fighter bagged the win after delivering a heavy left hook on Kawahara during the 3 minute mark of the second round, knocking his opponent cold on the ground.
Adiwangs’s KO victory marks his comeback win after his close-split decision loss with Hiroba Minowa in December 2020, which ended his seven-time winning streak. In the post-fight interview with Mitch Chilson, Adiwang becomes emotional after being asked what his message for everyone back home was. “We’ve been through a lot,” said the 27-year old fighter, “to my family, I love you so much, this is for you.” Adiwang dedicated his win to his late mother Leticia who succumbed to her illness in December 2020.
